Here comes my first report in the home trip category! It's about the vine hills of Oberdollendorf, our neighbour village. So we will not start in front of my house's door, but around one kilometre west in front of this linden tree. For this trip it will be the starting and finishing point, as you will see~
This is a sneak peek of Oberdollendorf's old borough with many memorial houses that mustn't be touched; our so-called "Fachwerkhäuser". Most of them have their origins in the Middle Ages and have been renovated many times; but they still have kept their flair and are a typical embodiment of German culture~
This is the "Turmstraße", Oberdollendorf's oldest street. Inside the building with the tower is an old pub, still open to all merry beer drinkers ^^
And directly right next to the tower you can see the "Alte Winkelgasse" with many other old houses~
Okay, let's start our walk: At first we need to climb up this vine hill
On the stone wall right you sometimes can find information boards about the vine culture in the "Rheintal" - that's why the route I'm taking for you is called the "Weinwanderweg" what means "vine wandering route"~
getting up higher - here starts a short part through the forest...
...but here we already return on the concrete vine hill way - it seems as if we would go into the light, right? ^^
A short view over the vine ranks before we turn left...
...to go this way. But at first let us turn right again...
...to walk this small path through the green. Where it will us lead to?
Welcome on the so-called "Hülle"! It's a viewing platform from where you can watch the whole surroundings quite well~
On New Year's Eve many people are used to come here to fire up fireworks, and you also have an impressing view on all the other fireworks over the villages and Bonn~
View of Bonn
of Niederdollendorf
of Oberdollendorf
and of the vine hill itself. At the moment it's summer and the leaves are green, but the view in autumn is even more beautiful with all the splendid colours of yellow, orange and red~ Also you can smell the ripened grapes then ^^
An option for taking a break - you often find such wooden seats next to the wandering ways - they look authentic, right?~
But now let's continue our way along the "Weinwanderweg"
A look down the water gutter for leading extreme rainfalls down
...and look whose home is also here~ at the vine hills you find lots of different insects, but especially many colourful sorts of butterflies ^^
A view over the landscape again, this time from the east end. Now we'll climb down again...
The vine hill again...
The view when you turn around - from there we came...
...and this opens up in front of us. It's a memorial for the never-tired vine hill workers, surrounded by white roses~
Down again, now the steepest part of the way...
And here comes "Gut Sülz", the vine hill owner's restaurant where you can have a sip of the grapes' taste~
Now we're already back to return to the sublime linden tree where we have started...
...There it comes! Welcome back~
Okay, that was my first tour through my home surroundings! I hope you've enjoyed it and are left with some inspiration? Tell me what you think if you like ^^
See you next time!
