Hello, dear readers!~
Yesterday I decided to go on a long walk from
Linz back home - that are almost 19 kilometres! I was on my way for over four hours, and luckily the weather stayed okay and without rain although it looked like it could start every moment.
So follow me on my way now~
I started my trip at the train station and walked along the railway for
some time. Somehow old industrial wasteland fascinates me, and I passed
by lots of weathering old trains and machines. I really would love to take some photos in there, but of course you aren't allowed to enter the area without permission.
Crossing the railways... |
I don't know wheter somebody lives up there... |
For example look at this - of course at first you think it's ugly, but somehow I consider dilapidation as something fascinating. Nothing is as constant as change, and objects weathering are the most normal thing on earth, in general.
Trains, trains and even more trains ^__^ |
The Rhine on the other side |
Look at this! Although it's just an old industrial rail landscape you can find wildlife here - I was surprised to see a deer I normally don't see even in a forest!
Walking through a little street... |
Okay, but it's also quite green here~ |
And quite steep... |
We're now on the way in direction to the village Erpel |
This is interesting: Here you can see the old ruins of the so called
"Rheinbrücke Remagen". It had big importance in the Second World War, but recently they've built a theatre inside.
This is the fortress on the one side of the Rhine... |
...and this the one on the other side |
This is the
"Erpeler Ley" (sorry, there's no English Wikipedia article). I climbed up there as a child more often because they had a playground and a small animal zoo on the top, but nowadays they have vanished... Moreover it's quite a far way to walk and too far away from my home, so I wasn't there since a long time...
The village Remagen on the other side of the Rhine |
A little alley to walk along ^__^ |
Well, I don't know this restaurant inside, to be honest... But I guess it's an old wine house, it's called "Herrlichkeit Erpel" (glory/loveliness Erpel). It was founded in 1588!
Here you can see the
church St. Apollinaris. I never have been there, to be honest... But it must be a very beautiful place, I really will do so one day~
Now it gets more natural again~ |
Well, this is
Marienfels castle.
Mr. Thomas Gottschalk has lived here for a long time, but now it's sold to Mr. Asbeck, the chief director of the
SolarWorld company seated in Bonn.
Just a pretty little tower ^__^ |
A huuge hotel complex... |
Pray for the Salvator, Holy Maria says, and she will bless you~ |
Who wouldn't want to live in here?~ |
I walked up here... |
... and arrived in this street. Ahead you can see the
"Willy Brandt Forum Unkel" I wanted to visit for a long time, but still I haven't done so... But it stands on my to do list, too ^__^ Mr. Brandt was the first SPD chancellor and has influenced German after-war history importantly!
Whoo, I would love to go in there ^___^ Looks like a witch house or something similar... |
Quite pretty restaurants in the village centre~ |
Back in direction of the Rhine... |
... and continuing the way~ |
Now it gets more natural again! This is a
towpath I didn't knew before, and I started walking along.
Oh yes, it got more muddy the longer I walked... It had rained heavily the day before |
A little rivulet - here I was stitched by a midge >__< |
Phew, finally an asphalted way! It was really muddy and my shoes and trousers got quite dirty after a while, so I was quite happy to walk normally again now.
We now enter the village
Bad Honnef. I went to school here and almost know it better than my own hometown xD
Afar you can see Rolandseck on the other side of the Rhine again. The grey building straight ahead is the newly built and opened
Arp Museum Bahnhof Rolandseck. It exhibits lots of arts of
Jean Arp, and although I'm no big fan of him I think I should visit it one day, too
(oh my, too many museums to visit and I still haven't done so... >__<; )
We now enter Bad Honnef's industrial area - not very pretty, but if you just walk through it's okay. The
ABB is quite a huge and important group and contributes to the village's earnings quite much. No long time ago they've had a huge fire in the machine hall, and the smoke covered the surroundings that strong, you couldn't see anything anymore!
We now leave the industrial area again and walk up this bridge. When you now turn left you can see
Grafenwerth island, Bad Honnef's most popular public place in summer. Honestly, I can't go there without meeting somebody I know f^__^; but it's indeed the perfect place for barbecues and enjoyable summer evenings~
We now walk down again... |
... a view back... |
...and arrive at the terminal tram station. Oh phew, I took this tram line for over seven years, I don't like it anymore... >__<
And this is the rowing club of Bad Honnef. I never was a member, but we went rowing with school one schoolyear and I also spent some time there. Their equipment is quite large and in good condition, I enjoyed this sport very much~
The rowing club house again |
View back |
Oh yes, Bad Honnef's own skateboard park - honestly, it's a joke and all serious skaters make fun of it because it's just a plain asphalt space. I don't care about it, but sometimes you really meet some people there...
And this was my tram station... I don't wanna know how much lifetime I've spent here, waiting for the tram...
Oh, there is one! They're quite old and not in the best condition anymore... |
We now reach the newly built appartment area "Bellevue". I must confess, the title is quite fitting because you really have a fantastic view on the Rhine when you live here~ But I also don't want to know how expensive the rents are...
Now going in direction of Königswinter |
The Drachenfels from the foot |
Quite beautiful buildings, but unfortunately with the highway and the railway behind... |
The village Mehlem on the other side |
Whoops, with my finger on the lens xD |
The ferry station |
Oh wow, look who comes there! |
This is the "RheinFantasie", one of the best ships of the
KD-fleet. Her sister ship "RheinEnergie" is also called the "Pope ship" because Benedict XVI has used it when he visited Cologne at the world youth day in 2005. Of course we are quite proud of this here ^___^
The
Sea Life centre with loots of fishes~ When I was a child I had a year's card for it even two times, I have stopped counting how often I've visited it... xD
Königswinter "downtown" - the place in front of the city centre, at least xD |
How cute, the restaurant "Alte Liebe"(old love) ^___^ |
"Rheinhotel Loreley" - I was in there one time, it's really impressing~ |
Königswinter's alley~ |
The Clemens-August place |
Oh, there is the "RheinFantasie" again ^___^ - and from right the "Filia Rheni" comes |
Newly built appartments and construction work - they're working for over two years already |
A soccer place |
A playground I also used quite often as a child |
Viewing point - it's always occupied, but this time not! |
Our little parc - I will take you through here more closely another time, I think ^__^ |
Our ferry |
Aaand ducks >w< |
And the other one that is only used in morning's rush hour |
This weekend was flea market time and some stalls were built up, but because of the bad weather conditions not many people were present - I always ask myself whether they sell something at all and why they make themselves all this effort. My Dad says it's furniture transfer for nothing, and somehow he is right...
When I passed by a honking car convoy stopped in the street - somebody has married! ^___^
Another of our parks, but it's not that beautiful, to be honest...
With the grave of somebody important of the village (I never could remember who he was...) |
The four trees - I never have found out which sort of trees they exactly are >___< |
Crossing the street and entering ours... |
And that's where I'm living, finally |
The car garage opposite |
Well, it was quite a long tour this time, I confess, but as I can see you have survived because you have reached the end ^__^ I hope you enjoyed and got a better impression of the surroundings I'm living in.
Thank you for reading and see you next time!~
